What's this webinar about?

The Charity Commission requires trustees to take reasonable steps to protect from harm anyone who comes into contact with their charity. This includes making sure that the trustees, staff and volunteers charities appoint are suitable and legally able to act in their positions.

All charities, regardless of their size, the sector in which they operate or their objectives, should therefore consider how to recruit lawfully and appropriately for the roles they are seeking to fill. This webinar aims to help charities explore how they can make safe, reasonable and proportionate recruitment decisions.

In this webinar we will cover:

• the charity safeguarding duty and how it applies to recruitment
• how to assess what is a reasonable approach to recruitment
• the legal requirements that form part of the recruitment process
• pre-appointment checks (including DBS checks)

We will include some examples for discussion and have an opportunity for delegates to ask questions.
